Job Description

Le Roy Central School District, located in Genesee County, approximately 40 miles east of Buffalo and 20 miles southeast of Rochester, is conducting a comprehensive search for our next Senior High School Principal (Grades 9-12).  Our Sr. High School serves approximately 360 students in grades 9-12 and the Principal directly supervises 40 teachers and 6 support staff members.  We take great pride in offering contemporary and challenging coursework, along with a multitude of extracurricular opportunities that ensure every student is engaged beyond the instructional day.

Le Roy Central School is seeking a highly qualified instructional leader with high school level leadership experience.  New York State certification as School Building Leader (SBL), School District Administrator (SDA), or Permanent School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) is required.  We seek a leader who will continue to build upon the tradition of academic excellence, student engagement, and community pride.  Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $100,000 to $117,000.

The Principal serves as the instructional and strategic leader of the school, providing professional leadership to faculty and staff.  The Principal will:

  • Foster a safe and engaging learning environment for all students
  • Provide strong instructional leadership and oversee curriculum implementation
  • Monitor instruction and promote continuous improvement
  • Manage the building budget effectively
  • Lead data-driven decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws
Job Qualifications

The Professional Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise teachers, staff, and daily operations to ensure adherence to all school policies and building procedures
  • Oversee the scheduling of students, teachers, and staff
  • Plan and implement a building-wide budget to ensure adequate funding for materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Develop, design, and guide professional development learning aligned to district, building, and teacher goals
  • Collaborate with Department Chairs and the administrative team
  • Support and foster a positive, team-oriented environment
  • Respond to and manage behavioral crisis situations involving students

The Ideal Candidate will possess the following attributes, skills, and experiences:

  • A strong background in classroom teaching/instruction
  • Proven results as a secondary school leader
  • A strong passion for making positive connections and working with high school students
  • Ability to long-range plan in preparing students for competitive four-year and two-year colleges while empowering students who prefer technical, agricultural, military, and other career pathways
  • A history of partnering with families to improve educational and extracurricular experiences of students
  • Places a high importance on employee and student accountability
  • Supports and values student activities during and after the instructional day
  • Proven collaboration with local agencies to improve/increase student services
  • Experience or training in Trauma, Illness, and Grief situations with students, teachers, and/or staff
