Candidate Profile: The Le Roy Central School District is restructuring its current administrative model at Wolcott Street School. Wolcott Street School serves 579 students in grades UPK-6, with 331 students in UPK-3rd grade and 248 students in 4th-6th grade. As part of our commitment to strengthening instructional leadership and enhancing student achievement, we are moving to a two-principal model - one principal serving UPK-3 and another serving grades 4-6. Position Summary: The Wolcott Street School Principal works in collaboration with elementary teachers, teaching assistants, and students. The principal will emphasize the implementation of restorative practices with our students and lead our Character Education initiatives within the building.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Oversees curriculum development, implements instructional strategies, and ensures quality teaching practices at each grade level;
- Supervises and evaluates faculty and staff;
- Works directly and collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure the school building is safe and secure;
- Oversees student management and attendance, enforcing the Code of Conduct and behavioral expectations fairly and consistently. Assists in supervising students in areas outside the classroom (cafeteria, bus loading/unloading zones, hallways, etc.).
- Implementation and coordination of a Character Education curriculum and programming;
- Chairs new and annual 504 Plan Meetings;
- Maintains regular communication and positive relationships with families, and ensures they are involved with and informed of their children's academic and behavioral progress.
- Job Qualifications
Qualifications and Salary:
New York State certification as a School Building Leader (SBL), School District Administrator (SDA), or Permanent School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) is required. Salary range for both positions will be from $80,000 to $95,000.
Attributes, Skills, and Experience:
- A strong background as an elementary teacher;
- Understanding and participation in restorative school discipline practices and social-emotional learning for students;
- Experience in supervising and evaluating teachers and teaching assistants;
- A strong passion for making positive connections and working with all students, teachers, staff, and families;
- Proven collaboration with local agencies to improve/increase student services;
- Experience or training in Trauma, Illness, and Grief situations with students, teachers, and/or staff.
